About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2001. At present, the
department is offering one UG program (B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering) with a student
intake of 60 and one PG program M.Tech (MACHINE DESIGN)) with a student intake of
18. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the biggest department having 12
faculty members with 3 Ph.D's. The curriculum is a blend of conventional and latest
technologies.
It is updated regularly to keep up with the growing demands and the changing
trends of the industry. The Department has a thriving research environment with active
research groups in the areas of Characterization of Metal Matrix and Natural Fiber
Composites, Alternative Fuels, Heat Transfer, CFD, Analysis of Composites using FEM,
Machine Condition Monitoring & Fault Diagnostics, Robotics, Additive Manufacturing,
Tribology, Process Optimization etc.
The AICTE/JNTU has sanctioned M.Tech (Machine Design) course from the academic year 2014-15. The department has excellent infrastructure facilities and modern laboratories. The department has maintains a close liaison with industries and ensures that students are trained as for global requirements.
